This museum exhibition opening invitation features the works of two well known film photographers, Kurt Markus and Ansel Adams. The invitation’s design pulls from traditional film photography techniques and practices. Circular die cuts featured on the front and rear covers as well as the use of gridded patterns throughout references the practice of enlarging prints from film negatives. The invitation uses a variety of transparent materials from vellum to screen printing film and acrylic which are bound together by 35mm film, and references the medium these photographers used to create their works. The invitation also showcases select works from each artist that interact with each other through the windows within each container when held up to a light source. The color scheme of red and black harkens back to the indispensable rule of working with film - unless you are under complete darkness or a red light, you can expose and ruin the film.
